American (double zero) roulette: numbers from 1 to 36 (red or black), 0 and 00 (green) A small ball is thrown into a spinning roulette wheel, and players bet on the number where they think the ball will land. Players can bet on an individual number or on many different groups of numbers. Every roulette wheel has at least 37 slots. 36 of those slots are always numbered 1 to 36, and they’re alternately colored RED or BLACK. The additional slots are green. In European roulette there is only one green slot, the “0”. The American roulette wheel version features 38 pockets, including the numbers ranging from 1-36, plus zero and the double zero (00). The extra green slot that’s labeled (00) gives this roulette version the highest house edge of 5.26%. The European roulette wheel has 37 numbered slots with numbers ranging from 1 to 36 and the number zero. The American roulette wheel has 38 numbered slots with numbers ranging from 1 to 36 and the number zero and double zero. On both roulette wheels the numbers 1 to 36 are split equally with 18 even numbers and 18 odd numbers. Roulette is a casino game named after the French word meaning little wheel. In the game, players may choose to place bets on either a single number, various groupings of numbers, the colors red or black, whether the number is odd or even, or if the numbers are high (19–36) or low (1–18).

This is a bit of a tough question. I'm wondering what your AVERAGE is per spin, how many numbers bet? I understand it might depend on what method you are playing etc. but try and post an average if you could. There is no wrong answer guys.
Thanks, Ken

My average is 0 - I am an outside bettor exclusively - red/black, high/low, even/odd.

Then 18 is your average.

Yes. Very true!
A woman tried telling me that a roulette bettor would be better off playing the outside than the inside because, 'The House Advantage higher on the inside'.
I explained that the HA is 5.26% regardles of inside or outside (I ignored the 00 0 1 2 3 wager)
She looked confused. Then I said, 'Lets say you bet 18$ on red. That's the same as betting 1$ on each of the red numbers. If you bet 18$ red and a red hits.. you will have 36$ total. If you bet 1$ on any inside number and it hits... you will have 36$ total. 35-1 plus your wager. Betting 10$ on 1-18 is the same as betting 0.55555$ on 1, 2, 3... 18'
Edit: In initial post, I wrote, '1, 2, 3,...36'.. should be 18 since only betting the 1-18 bet.

>>Yes. Very true!
I never thought of it that way, but it does seem correct. I'm really taking an equal portion of 18 straight up bets.

My turn to look confused.kenarman
I usually play 5 numbers, the 17 straight-up and the associated 4 splits. The splits can keep me in the game but I need the 17 to hit to make any money.Be careful when you follow the masses, the M is sometimes silent.

So it is.My favorite way of playing is betting that the last color, or side (H/L) or type (O/E) will come again and then playing a mini-martingale until it does. I don't make a lot but I don't lose a lot either.

What is your 'decent method?'minnesotajoe
Don't be confused. If an average person that lacks above average math skills takes a quick glance, they will see... I have 1 in 38 shot at winning inside.. but outside is pretty much 50/50... I'm going to be smart and only bet outside.
Think of it like this.
If you bet 10$ on red. You have 18 winners. And 20 losers. So expected loss is 20$ for every 380$ you bet... which equals 0.0526
If you bet 10$ on any individual number. There 1 winner. 37 losers. You win 350$ lose 370$. Expected loss is 20$ for every 380$ bet... which is the same as outside
